At lunch the other day I thought it would be great for Wesley to try some peanut butter. After lunch up I picked him up and headed down the hall to put him down for his nap. As soon as we entered his bedroom he started puking—now what do you do? Run for the toilet creating a track of stained carpet behind you? Stay in one place so all the contamination is in one place? Hold the baby over the crib so he hits the sheets which can be cleaned a little more easily than the carpet? I ran for the toilet of course. After a bath and new clothes we were back to nap when the puking started again. This time I stayed in one place. Then I started to panic—the kid is allergic to peanut butter, okay maybe not allergic-that causes rashes and breathing problems. One more set of clothes and then more up chucking began. We jumped in the car headed to Instacare. Have you ever tried to get your debit card out and sign a consent to treat form while your one year old his heaving into one of those little tiny things they give you to puke in? After some anti nausea medicine and a quick check from the Dr. it was determined he had some nasty flu bug and an ear infection—no peanut problems. We went home. Wes stopped puking , Ian puked all night, Miles got it at the other end, and I prayed that between scrubbing the floors and doing the laundry the germs would somehow avoid me completely. While all of this was going on 2 boxes of ripe peaches were sitting in the garage just waiting for me to put them in some jars for the winter. Two days latter I got around to the peaches and upon processing the last jar Wesley started to throw up again! We spent one more day fighting off the bug, but I think it is finally gone. Now every time I open a jar of peaches I can remember what a fun time we had being sick!
